The place was just a location. The rooms were dim and cluttered, the artificial lighting was weak and hard to read, the TV was old and not smart. The bed was shorter than usual (why would they do that?) – I see that was mentioned in the listing. I had to use a key card to keep the room powered up, which was tricky when one person left and the other was stuck.

Finding it was easy, the host was lovely, breakfast was exceptional, and the morning views down to the River Weaver were beautiful.

The location was quiet and had parking; walking to the village was convenient. Breakfast was okay but nothing special. The bedroom was cramped with no space between the beds. I asked for more toast and got only half a slice! When I arrived, no one was at the reception, but another resident helped me locate the room key.

The setting was beautiful and the building stunning; the room was nicely decorated. Unfortunately, my room was attached to another one with only an internal door between them. I could hear every bit of conversation, which felt too close. It might not be the case for every room, but it might be worth requesting a different one if that’s uncomfortable.
