“Wonderfully memorable stay.”

A fantastic boutique hotel with a delightful owner who made sure everything was perfect, plus a great restaurant. We booked a safari through the hotel, and it was excellent and surpassed our expectations.

The place is beautiful and well‑maintained, with a great pool and a large outdoor restaurant/bar. The owner goes out of his way to ensure a great stay, paying attention to small details: a welcome message on a chalkboard, a slice of cake after dinner, citronella bottles (to keep the mosquitoes away) on every table, phone chargers at the tables, and water bottles when you leave. Breakfast is a choice menu offering either a European or a Sri Lankan breakfast; lunch and dinner are also available, which is fine because Udawalawe itself doesn’t have much to do, and we knew that beforehand. The only small issue is that the “open” shower makes you get quite wet in the smaller bathroom after each shower.

“Lovely restaurant and accommodation close to elephant orphanage with super friendly staff”

A lot of thought went into the beautiful setup: a tropical dining space and pool area. The staff and manager are super friendly.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when arranging safaris and transfers. The accommodation was spotlessly clean. The rooms, however, were quite dark with only a few windows. The food at the restaurant was decent but nothing special.
