The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and we were welcomed nicely despite the hotel being completely empty. Still, we were annoyed that the full amount of our stay was charged as a “security” on our credit card two months in advance, even though we later understood why. After a taxi ride through a rather deserted area, we arrived to find the property deserted and the advertised little beach littered with dead fish and fishermen mending nets—hardly the idyllic swim spot promised. The location felt isolated and a bit eerie, not the kind of place you’d stroll around in. To make matters worse, our terrace door was jammed and the whole patio was swarming with red ants, so we decided to leave on the spot and lost the money we’d paid.
