I liked the hammock area on the roof overlooking Tayrona Park, and the playful monkeys and other wildlife were a treat. The site claimed a shared kitchen, but that turned out not to exist; I had to pay for dinner, which was an unexpected expense but still a great meal.

The jungle experience was great—good atmosphere and animals, friendly and helpful staff, a fantastic view of the forest from above, and decent breakfast and dinner. The tent was old and torn, the structure was very basic, comfort was low, and the mattress was uncomfortable.

The setting is gorgeous, the camp is well put together, and there’s a short trail to a viewpoint at the mountain’s summit with stunning vistas. Karen and her family are very sweet and work hard to satisfy guests, and the food was delicious. The monkeys living at the camp are aggressively persistent, especially when you’re eating. It’s clear this camp was once pretty cool with nice palapas, hammocks, and thoughtful design, but it’s now pretty run down and needs some TLC. New mattresses, tents, towels, and soap are needed as basic items. If you go, bring your own water, at least a hand towel, and some soap.
