Jacky knows everyone and all the good spots in the area, and everyone knows him: he is therefore good advice and an excellent tour operator (multilingual, can book both buses and day‑taxis, etc.). The on‑site meals are available but more expensive than those nearby.

The place is fantastic right at the edge of the rice paddies and the ancient village of Pugaolaozhai, and the host Jacky and his family are incredibly kind—feels like family! Don’t forget the dog Doudou (pronounced Dodo) and the cat Simba who just sleeps. I’ll remember this stay fondly. The kitchen is great, but the prices seem a bit high, which is why I rate it 9 instead of 10. Cheaper excellent restaurants are a few hundred meters away on the road, but the street isn’t lit at night, making the walk risky.

Jacky is the best owner; he assists with everything you need. His family is adorable, the stay was perfect with an amazing terrace, and the food was delicious—he always tries to adapt to you. We highly recommend this experience. There are some day treks to try, and the house is lovely when the sun goes down.
