Two days before my stay, the manager texted me saying the place was closed for the wet season and wouldn't give me the advertised rate, instead charging $20 extra per night. When I got there, the parking was gone, the building looked awful, and I left immediately. He was rude when I asked for a refund, blaming me for expecting the advertised price. I've stayed in many Aussie hostels without a hitch, so this was a real let‑down.

I spent five nights at Darwin Hostel and it was everything I hoped for. The beds were comfy, the bathrooms were spotless and stocked, and the kitchen had all the essentials. The pool was a great way to unwind, and Lisa made the experience even better. With a central spot just a few minutes from a McDonald’s and the shops, I’d definitely stay here again.

The hostel was spotless, with daily cleaning and plenty of soap in the bathrooms. The beds were super comfy, Lisa was welcoming, and the kitchen had all the basics. The pool was a nice break from the heat, and the central location meant I was just a short walk from a McDonald’s and the shops. Everyone I met was friendly, so I had a great time and would definitely come back.
