“Razočaranje nad gostoljubjem”
I expected a more secluded spot with plenty of greenery, but the hotel sits cramped among houses and streets. The room itself was pretty, clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom attractive, and everything worked flawlessly. However, there was no dedicated stand or shelf to put a bag in the room. On arrival, nothing was available anywhere; I had to search and call on the phone. The reception was very cold, the first line was that I had to pay everything immediately, with no welcome or time to chat. Such a stance is unfamiliar to me in Sri Lanka. The biggest issue was a terrible odor in the room from freshly painted walls that lingered for 3 days. I wanted to switch rooms right away, but none were on the same level. After two nights they offered me another room, but I couldn’t move back after a month-long trip. Rooms like that should not be rented out. The staff are only reachable during breakfast hours, coffee and tea are available all day, but the fridge is locked at 9 pm. Luckily there’s a nice nearby spot, I think Ikiri, where you can get cold drinks and food in the evening. The hotel has potential, but the staff still have a lot to learn, even they don’t greet you if you happen to bump into them.
