The location is at the very end of the street, almost like the end of the world, and I spent three days simply staring at the mountains. As a guest, you’re close to family life and the accompanying chaos, but that proximity didn’t bother me. I must highlight that Lena and Gaga go above and beyond to ensure guests feel comfortable, even providing food for any visitor and hosting extra guests spontaneously in the evenings. They’re deeply committed to hospitality. The only downside is that the Wi‑Fi can be unreliable on iPhones at times.

Nous faisions le treck d'Omalo a Shatili. Après atsunda pass, les personnes bivouac généralement a proximité du poste de garde de khitodani. Nous avons préféré faire 1 heure de descente supplémentaire pour dormir dans la guest house d'Elena et Gaga. Gaga est même venu nous chercher en voiture a l'arrivée du chemin pour faire les 3 km dernniers km de piste jusqu'a leur belle maison. Elena et Gaga nous ont accueillis avec une infinie gentillesse alors que nous arrivions avec nos gros sacs de randonnées complètement trempés. Quelle joie ! Quel bonheur d’arriver chez eux ! Un havre de paix dans cette magnifique vallée cachée au bout de la piste. Nous avons dîné avec eux, tout était délicieux. Lena fait elle même le pain et tout les ingrédients viennent des fermes avoisinantes qui font partie de la famille de gaga . Nous avons passé une soirée formidable en leur compagnie et leurs enfants sont adorables . La chambre est très confortable ainsi que la salle de bain . Si vous passez quelques jours sur place, Lena et Gaga pourront vous faire découvrir les traditions locales et de magnifiques balades dans ce secteur preservé. Que vous fassiez un Trek ou pas, n'allez pas en Géorgie sans passer chez eux !

“Escape everything and chill out in nature.”

We loved that we were at the end of the road—no one else there except the lady who made the cheese and gave us the milk, plus two old men scything their patch. All of them live in the first Khone village, not the higher one in summer. Absolutely pure nature, untouched hillsides. Fabulous walking and rare plants to be found. The house is entirely off‑grid with plenty of solar and naturally fed water from the river above. The house has everything you need for cooking and is very warm. Bathrooms work well. One of the owners, Tolkha Shetekauri, took us out walking and knew all the history of his family’s village. Can recommend this cottage if you truly want to be immersed in nature, but don’t want to camp or tent. There are four river crossings to the house so you need a 4×4 or have the owners drive you in. The scenery is stunning. There’s nothing I didn’t like—bear in mind this is a mountain house, not a hotel. It has everything you need and I’d recommend a 3–4‑plus‑night stay. You drive through Mutso and Shatili to get there.
