We booked this place three weeks in advance, but we never got to see it. Just before we were about to arrive, the owner pulled the plug on our reservation after we’d already driven 200 km. He claimed a funeral forced him to shut down the property, offered to find another spot for us but failed, leaving us in a jam and ruining the whole trip; we had to scramble for alternatives in a panic.

The hosts were genuinely nice and welcoming, and the spot is close to the city. The rooms were generally clean, the coconut drink was wonderful, and the garden looked lovely. The price was very low, so some quirks were expected, but still a bit annoying. One night the family was loud at 11 pm and we were exhausted; the house is so thin‑walled we could hear everything, so sleep was impossible. A kitchen sink in front of our window meant someone was washing dishes at about 10:30 pm. The view doesn’t overlook the lake as advertised, but you can see the garden, which is nice. A broken glass shelf was still attached to the wall in our room, and the curtains were old, dirty, and hard to move, making it difficult to see through the window.
