The staff were very friendly, especially at breakfast, and the lounge was nice. The rooms were okay, but not as cozy as the pictures showed.

“A beautiful victorian period building with a well valued spa and very kind staff.”

I arrived late, the dinner reservation was held and served well, and I was allowed an extra hour for late checkout because of my late arrival, so we could use the spa until 12. That was very appreciated. The room was a bit tired and the bathroom had a funny smell when the water ran or was flushed. It was fine but needed a deep clean and the paint in the bathroom was flaking; overall it’s an old building, so that’s expected.

“A sad decline into below average”

The room was surprisingly roomy and comfortable compared to other overnight stays, but the restaurant felt deserted and outdated in the evenings, so I opted for Room Service; the burger, supposedly made from "Scottish Wagyu Beef," was overcooked, brown, and tasteless, drenched in juices that made it fall apart in my hand, while the chips were just okay; after a long, exhausting day I was ready to complain, and the next morning the corridors were cluttered with cleaning equipment that seemed eager to see us leave; breakfast was mediocre, with cereal bowls that were tiny and only offered a rice bowl, forcing me to request a larger bowl for my muesli and fruit.

I stayed in a room that was cramped and had a random fridge on the floor, and the cleanliness was shocking; the price didn’t match the condition or the size of the space.
