The staff were friendly, and the view seemed decent, but the room itself wasn’t a disaster. This was my second visit to the city and I wanted to try a different place, so I chose a hostel linked to Hostelling International, which turned out to be a mistake. I can’t recommend it because other hostels in Lyon charge similar rates but offer better quality. They claim to have bicycle parking, but the rack is the flimsiest you can find—just a single wheel holder—and it’s in a spot that’s easy to reach from the main road. Bringing the bike inside was a hard no. The shower rooms are in bad shape; one was even flooded. Breakfast is scarce (not a buffet) but at least it’s cheap in the simplest setup. Also, booking through the HI France website was confusing. The hostel either has no quiet hours or doesn’t enforce them, as I heard a whole class singing and being noisy well past midnight.
