The location, right at the city entrance, kept me out of the holiday rush traffic. I could walk to the nearby Pontal beach and the restaurant next to the camping area, which sits across from the lodge’s access ramp. However, stray dogs left droppings outside at night and nobody cleaned until the next morning. One of the female dogs bit two people in my group, and the listing even says they interact with guests. The barbecue area had rusty, old equipment. The outdoor bathrooms had splintered boards with gaps. Two rooms had no hot water in the shower. A construction site for a new room was blocking the path to the animal area, with plenty of building materials scattered. The animal area was littered with feces, especially near the larger animals, and the smell drifted into the barbecue zone. The owners live on site but there’s no staff to help when they leave. The access road needs improvement.
