The reserve is breathtaking, remote and ideal for stargazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there’s plenty to do nearby. The rooms are well-equipped with almost everything you need. A few minor maintenance issues popped up—some damp patches in the bathroom and the remote controls for the exit and entrance gates didn’t work, but that’s just nitpicking. Overall, a fantastic place to stay!

The highlight of our visit was the dark night sky; seeing the Milky Way so clearly felt priceless! The 4‑course set menu dinner was incredible and very reasonably priced, and everyone enjoyed it. We were surprised to learn that extra firewood, guided night‑sky viewing, the game drive, and the fossil presentation and drive were all additional charges. It would help if the establishment printed a list of extra services and their costs.

The only place to stay in Sutherland, it’s comfortable, the staff are amazing, and the skies are spectacular. The activities are a must‑do. Thanks to everyone at Rogge Cloof for a truly wonderful experience.
