The hotel sits in the heart of the city, great for dinner plans, yet one of our rooms was double‑booked and strangers were let in, the front‑desk staff spoke poor Swedish, and the breakfast didn’t live up to my expectations.

A truly distinctive place with cozy rooms steeped in history, once visited by King Chualongkorn of Thailand, and you can feel the energy if you listen closely; we felt warmly welcomed at Appelberg.
