The people were nice, coming from all over the world. One morning my roommate was very loud at 6 am.

The location was good. There was no service worth the money. You had to bring your own sheets. Tap water couldn’t be used. Because they don’t have geothermal water, they ask you to shower quickly. Of all my stays in Iceland, this was the only one I would not recommend again.

The location and the view from the window were outstanding. I liked the decor and the home‑like feel of the kitchen, and the ceramic tiles on one wall were amazing. It was cool that they had some low‑waste options like a free food shelf. The beds were comfortable. I understand it’s a popular area, but the price we paid was much higher than other places on the Golden Circle Route, and the comfort was the lowest. The worst part, which really upset me, was the bathroom. There is only one for many people and it shows – it smelled like piss and the shower cabin was basically yellow; I regret not taking a picture. Droplets stayed on the ceiling for hours, there was too much humidity, so there was black fungus or mold in the cabin too. I didn’t bring flip‑flops, so I didn’t dare to use it. I would accept my fate in a cheap place, but it wasn’t cheap. I’ve seen many hostels, but this is one of the worst bathrooms. The room was tiny, one bed is next to a sloping wall so tall people would have trouble. There was no storage area. We didn’t meet any staff and, sadly, none of the animals (three or more) mentioned, which we had to admit were one of the reasons we were excited to pick this place. We even got an email a day before arrival mentioning the dog there, so it was a bit disturbing that we didn’t see any trace of him. I would stay there again only if the bathroom was redone, even for a higher price.
