Dominik, the host, was very friendly and welcomed us, and the accommodation offered excellent value for the price.

The host wasn’t there in person, but sent a video the day before showing how to access the booked room. We were greeted with a welcome sign and gummy bears. The room and bathroom were clean and functional, with blinds and a fly screen on the windows. Coffee and tea could be made in the room, and the wheels could be parked in a garage that charges batteries. However, the metal-framed beds and cabinets gave off the vibe of an old youth hostel. There were no bedside lamps, Wi‑Fi and the TV didn’t work, and the garden furniture looked neglected. The guest house also doubles as accommodation for workers who eat in the kitchen, which is how you reach the rooms. The disturbance was that the kitchen was only haphazardly tidied. The listing omitted the crucial note for cyclists that the guest house in Bieswang is only reachable after a 4‑km uphill drive and you need to go 7 km to Schernfeld for a tavern.
