“Fabulous pool, modern trendy hotel with lovely rooms.”
I picked this hotel because of its swimming pool during midsummer in Texas, and it lived up to expectations with a beautiful pool and garden that offered a great view over the surrounding areas. There was plenty of shade—though some booths had to be booked in advance—plus sunscreen and water were freely available, and a bar and food service were also offered. My room was very nice, featuring a wonderful view, a comfortable bed, a coffee maker, a fridge, and a luxury bathroom. The staff were all very friendly. On Saturday evening, however, my great view of the pool was somewhat jaded when a DJ arrived and a party of Houston's young and beautiful people filled the garden area; the thumping music finally stopped at 10pm. I’m not sure if that was a one‑off or a regular thing. The hotel is also a bit isolated from shops and food options; Whole Foods was about a 25‑minute walk away. I later learned the hotel offers a car service, so I could have asked for a ride there. Small issues like the absence of tea bags, cocoa, tea spoons, and milk (only powdered creamer) felt a bit cheap for such a nice hotel.
