“Peaceful rest at tea fields with great hiking and scenery nearby.”

The location was excellent, tucked away in a quiet part of Maskeliya with only the birdsong in the mornings; stepping out the door you could walk into tea fields above the lake with great views of waterfalls and Adam’s Peak, making it a great base for climbing Adam’s Peak and the nearby Pekoe trail, which was very scenic; the bathroom and room were very clean and I slept very comfortably; the host was very knowledgeable about the area, always had activities ready, and did a lot to contact bus drivers and train stations to confirm times and organize transportation; I felt right at home and they all provided truly excellent service day and night, making it a lovely experience.

“Perfect place. Very silent location. Food, Hot Water and cleanliness perfect.”

We walked along the lake toward the Gartmore Waterfall, and the owner joined us among tea fields heading to the falls with two German tourists, and we were all grateful.

The location is perfect—quiet, surrounded by nature, and only a short walk to the bus stop. The room is generous, with a balcony that offers a view of the tea plantations. Dinner was tasty, and the host was attentive, taking us on a tour of the plantations, dropping us off at the stop, and fulfilling every request. We even had two geckos as housemates. The shower didn’t heat up, so we had to wait for the sun to warm up, and overall cleanliness could have been better.

The host was fantastic, always eager to help us navigate and enjoy our time. They treated us to plenty of homemade Sri Lankan meals, complete with fresh fruit, vegetables, and backyard coffee, right in their family home. Whenever we needed a taxi or tuk‑tuk, they arranged it, and when we went camping, they even sent a local guide to ensure we reached the campsite safely. Because it was a holiday and taxis were scarce, the host kindly drove us himself for the 2.5‑hour trip to Kandy. He invited us to his family's New Year celebrations and introduced us to everyone. We were able to extend our stay without any hassle and received a larger room at the same price because it was available. The room was spotless, equipped with a mosquito net, toilet paper, balcony, warm water shower, air conditioning, warm blankets for chilly nights, and a peaceful outdoor seating area. If I ever return to Maskeliya, I’ll stay here again. I can’t recommend it enough!

Hemantha was the best host! He made me and my friends feel truly welcome and did everything he could to help us. The rooms are basic but well-equipped and pleasant, and the place sits right in the middle of this beautiful area. I’ll definitely come back to Maskeliya and stay with Hemantha again!
