The owner was friendly and helped me find the location before we arrived, and he cleared the path after a light snow in the morning. There’s no kitchen, and using the microwave or making coffee or hot water trips the circuit breaker, which was inconvenient; I reported it to the landlord before we left and later received a message saying he fixed the issue.

I needed a quiet place to reflect, and this spot delivered exactly that. The Japanese Tea Room surprised me with its charm, and the absence of a TV only added to the tranquility. The hosts were present on the property and reachable, yet I still enjoyed full privacy and backyard access. It’s not your typical getaway, but it’s exceptional for peace and quiet—10 Zen! The entry dining room feels like a wasted space; it’s just a “den” with no cooking facilities except a microwave. I loved the Tea Room, but a comfy chair for reading would have been nice. The two traditional Japanese sofas are very comfortable, though perhaps a bit formal for some. The recessed lighting was too bright. All in all, a great stay!
