The bungalow is quite large and a bit outside the village, which should be a quiet spot. However, the family can’t walk, so they drive around my bungalow all day on scooters—a strange habit. They also stopped talking to me after I declined to buy their overpriced lobster; you can get lobster for half the price in the village! The bathroom needs a lot of maintenance, the water pressure is very low for a shower, and many dogs run around and constantly empty the rubbish bins. It’s also in a noisy neighbourhood where loud music and bad taste in music from neighbours frequently irritate you.

It was okay, nice, and quite.

The location is beautiful and peaceful compared to the rest of Saroke, just a 3‑minute walk to Keyhole. We loved the porch hammock—it stayed dry even in the rain! The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked best with the bathroom door closed and a fan circulating air. Perri and Anni, our hosts, were available to arrange anything we needed (driver, scooter rental) and provided water on request. Several good eateries were nearby; our favorites were Hello Sunshine for breakfast and Soushie restaurant. Life moves much slower here than in the USA, offering a wonderful break from our usual routine. Anni cooked dinner for us twice during our stay, and it truly felt like family. The only drawback was that it was a bit hard to understand how things worked—we didn’t realize we needed to ask for things, but once that was sorted, no problem! The beach at Lagrundi Bay is a bit of a hike—about a mile.
