“A very special place to stay.”
We spent a week at Domaine de Sens Bas last year, and this time it was even better because we stayed in Eric and Veronique’s self‑contained two‑bedroom gîte, letting us come and go as we pleased. The gîte was beautiful, private, and separate from the main property, yet we still had access to the pool and the café, with evening meals available. It was spacious, full of charm, and the bedrooms had air conditioning, which was essential when temperatures hit 41 degrees a few times. The living area stayed cool, featured stone floors, a comfy sofa, a big TV with fibre Wi‑Fi, and a great kitchen‑dining area with a lovely large dining table. Every morning, Veronique served a quality breakfast on the balcony overlooking their fields and woods. The pool was a good size, clean, and quiet—perfect to relax before it got too hot. The two donkeys, a mother and daughter, were adorable, friendly, and gentle, and we were sad to leave them. This is a very special place to stay. The tranquility and beautiful surroundings let you relax and enjoy quality time with family or friends, whether it’s good food, abundant wildlife in the evenings, or scrabble games with ice cream around the pool. Eric and Veronique were always around to make sure our needs were met, always made time to chat even when busy, were friendly and helpful, and made us feel truly welcome and comfortable. We stayed for almost two weeks and can honestly say we enjoyed every moment. Hopefully we’ll return next year for more relaxation and donkey cuddling. The only thing I can think of is that the gîte could use some coasters for drinks and a few sharp knives for cooking, but we had family nearby who supplied us with both.
