“Trinken Sie Ihren "Absacker" nicht im sonst guten "L'Amirauté"”
The room for the next two nights was okay, and we couldn't judge breakfast ("Paul" on the nearby main street was preferred after the weak bar performance the previous evening); the location is good, especially for the interesting Marine Museum, the Tour Tanguy, or the "Seilbahn" to the other side of Brest. For "Oceanopolis" (see also negatives) one should anyway take a taxi; at the nearby Port de Plaisance we can recommend the cheerful local "Tour du Monde" especially if you like mussels. The entrance to the hotel garage is exactly on the other block side of the hotel, so a little caution is advised if you have a somewhat larger car. Generally about Brest: we were pleasantly surprised given the many negative comments about the youthful bustle. Only "Oceanopolis" might be problematic: we had read that parts are often closed. For us it was completely off, because even though I had googled before our departure that it was open on Mondays, it suddenly became a day off. At the hotel: the (nice) receptionist was also in charge of the bar and unfortunately had no knowledge of Calvados or any other "Eau de vie" or beers; the alternative red wine was terrible and too warm.
