The Econo Lodge Cameron hotel is situated off Interstate 35 and Highway 69, near Wallace State Park, and 30 minutes from Jamesport, Missouri's largest Amish community. Nearby attractions include the Cameron Memorial Golf Course, Cameron Regional Medical Center, and Western Missouri Correctional Center. The hotel offers free continental breakfast, high-speed Internet, and a seasonal outdoor pool, as well as pet-friendly rooms with refrigerators and HBO.

It was well after midnight and none of the rooms on I‑35 were taking online reservations, so driving 15‑miles out of the way was a welcomed option. It was very quiet and, sadly, quite comfortable. We left long before we wanted to, which was just what we needed for a 4‑hour nap before a 12‑hour drive to Central Texas.

The place needed an update, especially the bathroom. There was no exhaust fan and the towels were dingy.

We just needed a place to sleep, and that's exactly what we got. But the step-up into the room was a bit of a challenge, and that's about the only thing that stands out in my mind.
