I was hoping to eat there, but the kitchen was shut for refurbishment and we didn't find out until we checked in. The room was old, tatty, dated and musty, and the kitchen closure meant the place wasn't what was advertised.

The location is central and convenient, and the breakfast touches and drinks facilities in the room are nice. However, the room was very hot and could use some redecorating.

Nothing stood out as positive. The building was very old, the night access felt creepy, and the wooden windows wouldn’t close, letting in a lot of noise from the main street where cars and trucks passed early in the morning, making it impossible to rest. To make matters worse, workers renovating the next room were drilling loudly and even knocked on our door early to ask if they could enter our room to continue the work. I would not stay there again.

The location was great, right in the heart of Bakewell, and the staff were very friendly. The check‑out process was convenient with a key drop‑box and exit through the fire escape, though the pub was closed and this quirk wouldn't suit anyone with mobility issues. There was no breakfast option other than porridge pots and biscuits in the room, although we found a few spots around town for breakfast. It’s fine for a one or two‑night stay, but longer stays could get expensive. Using the back fire escape to get back in after the pub closed around 10 pm was a hassle, and the road was very noisy from very early in the morning, though this isn’t a failing of the property and the age of the pub likely meant no double glazing.
