I spent two weeks at the hotel. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and efficient. I was able to check in at 3 am without losing my room, which was important to me, and the 24‑hour reception was a plus. Laundry facilities were available and there was a free snack late at night. The mattress was firm and not worn, which I liked. The hotel is in Korea Town, so there are many Korean restaurants and shops nearby, as well as two large shopping centers, The Mixc and Aegean, which made me feel comfortable. To get to the Bund it takes about an hour by metro; Line 10 is about 15 minutes on foot, Line 9 a bit longer. From Pudong Airport it’s roughly an hour by taxi; by metro you should plan at least 2 + hours. At night it can be noisy outside the hotel, so earplugs are provided in the room; I stayed up late so it was fine for me. Breakfast can be added, and free Wi‑Fi is available (not tested).
For allergy sufferers, some guests ignore the no‑smoking rule in rooms, so there is often a smell of smoke in the hallway. The hotel seems to have no control over this. When I arrived I was given a room that had been smoked in before; the smoke smell lingered in the mattress, pillows, and blanket. The hotel was supposedly fully booked at the time of my arrival. I intended to switch hotels the next day because that was unacceptable to me, but fortunately I could change rooms that afternoon without any trouble. The staff speak little to no English; using apps is somewhat workable.
