“Great hostel”
This hostel sits in a gorgeous historic building. The beds were comfortable, the shower had plenty of hot water, and it felt very safe with a night security guard and the front door locking after hours, making it feel more like a hotel than a hostel. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus were extensive and reasonably priced. The bar is a pleasant spot to relax, offering a great happy hour and daily food specials. The portable evaporative air cooler we used had to be filled ourselves and didn’t work well, so the room sometimes got too warm. There’s constant noise from the on‑site bar and the restaurant next door during the day and evening, but it shuts off around 11 pm, after which the hostel is quiet. Maintenance of outdoor areas like tables and the pool could be better. We were disappointed that some advertised tours were surprisingly expensive compared to arranging them ourselves (e.g., we paid 16 USD per person for Hobbitanago while Socialtel advertised the day at 80 USD per person), so it’s worth doing your own research.
