We were on a bike tour and had a wonderful stay at Gut Haferkorn; it’s perfectly located in the middle of nature and completely quiet, the breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, and the staff were very friendly.

During a backpacking trip I managed to stay one night at Gut Haferkorn. Everything was sorted over the phone beforehand, so I could check in at any time using the key safe. I was told there was no breakfast or other meals, just a tea kitchen. The only hiccup was missing cups, but I handled that by bringing my own food, since there are no stores nearby. The room was clean, spacious, and all toiletries were supplied. The outdoor area is still used for weddings and the like, so it’s basically a conference hotel. I had no big expectations and was glad to have a place to sleep for the night. Overall, I was satisfied. I ended the evening peacefully by the pond, taking it slow. I was alone, so aside from a pleasant phone call I couldn’t say much about the staff.

“Voor mij niet meer”

The location was great, close to the highway. The room was uncomfortably hot, with no ventilation through the building. Nobody was there to ask for a different room, and there was nothing to eat or drink in the evenings. Breakfast also offered very little choice.

“Rundum gelungen, wunderbares Essen, idyllische Lage.”

I was traveling alone by bike, and even though a larger group was staying, I received a lot of friendly attention and was able to book a dinner on the spot without prior reservation. It was delicious, and the breakfast was just as good. Everything was fresh, many dishes used regional ingredients, some even from the estate’s garden. The idyllic setting and the smart room furnishings let me relax well. I’d gladly come back anytime.
