The atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the excellent breakfast were all great. The only drawback was that the room on the fourth floor was a bit of a loft.

Meriton Old Town Garden Hotel, nestled in a historic building between Lai and Pikk streets, boasts an inner courtyard and medieval elements. The hotel is a 2-minute walk to Town Hall Square and 15 minutes from Telleskivi area. Individually designed rooms feature stone and wooden stairs, flat-screen TVs, and minibar. The hotel's Trofe Restaurant-Bar serves Northern-inspired cuisine and offers a courtyard and sunny terrace.

The hotel sits right inside the old city walls and is a short walk from the train station—just a quick Uber if you arrive by ferry instead of a dodgy taxi. The staff were friendly and helpful. My room looked out onto a street and was surprisingly quiet, even with the window open in the hot summer weather. The old town is easy to explore on foot, though the cobblestones can be a bit rough. Breakfast was decent. The only downside was that the room was long and narrow, so it only had one bed—fine for a solo stay but a touch cramped compared to what I had imagined.

Breakfast was good, the location was convenient, and the room was spacious. It was a bit too warm to sleep in late September, and the cleanliness could use some improvement.

The review is just a smiley face for positives and a thumbs‑up for negatives.
