“A 3 star hotel pretending to be a 5 star.”
The spot is great, right in a bustling shopping area near Pavillon with indoor walkways to KLCC. The rooms feel like a 3‑star place masquerading as 5‑star; I stayed here a decade ago and returned for Merdeka, also visiting the Shanghai branch on the same trip. The Cabana Pool‑side rooms, like 6009, haven’t improved at all and need TLC. The beds are rock‑hard and leave your back sore, the wardrobes are broken, and the linens don’t smell fresh. Even the electric kettle was left with residue from previous guests—apparently they cooked in it—and we had to clean it ourselves, which should have been checked. In‑room dining is awful; we ordered a pizza after a late flight and received a frozen supermarket pizza that cost €22—so ridiculous it was almost funny. Breakfast is subpar by KL standards, especially the coffee, which is worse than petrol‑station coffee. We stayed during Merdeka, so the crowd might explain the lower quality, but the pool bar is odd: no fridges for soft drinks in 33°C weather, only ice, which feels like a sign of low service standards amid the heavy foot traffic.
