The Sky Gate Hotel Tianmen Peak

After traveling through several cities before arriving in Zhangjiajie, this hotel turned out to be a pleasant surprise after long travel days. After spending a whole day touring Tianmen Shan, what I liked most was how simple and comfortable it was to return here. The atmosphere was calm, and the room was very pleasant for relaxing. Cathy gave us a couple of very useful tips to organize our mountain visit and helped us avoid the busiest times. We didn’t expect to find such a practical place so close to the tourist area.

We left Chengdu and discovered many places before arriving here. After our visit to Mount Tianmen, we appreciated the simplicity and cleanliness of this hotel. The environment is safe for the whole family. Cathy suggested easier itineraries so we wouldn’t get overly tired. The location makes our outings much easier.

The place has a very functional setup. The service is relaxed, no rush. The room is spacious, the bed is comfortable. Great for anyone who wants to spend a few days enjoying the region without complications.

“Terrible experience”

I had nothing good to say about the hotel; the photos were deceptive. The front‑desk staff avoided eye contact when I spoke to them. The beds were hard and squeaked. It felt like a rip‑off, especially since there was no butter at the breakfast buffet. Smokers were everywhere and people shouted in the hallways, and the breakfast itself was subpar. The location felt like a crowded, central spot with street vendors everywhere and people sitting on the floor in front of the lobby—an awful choice, and I can’t understand the high rate on Booking. Absolutely a rip‑off! Stay at the Hampton Inn next door instead.

We were satisfied with the stay. Upon arrival, the room was already prepared. Nearby there are many restaurants and shops, perfect for quick shopping.
