The hotel staff were very friendly. As we had read in other comments, Mustapha welcomed us in an excellent way, always making sure our stay was comfortable and pleasant. Thank you!! It’s surprising when you enter the hotel, as the streets of Fes hide treasures like the hotel Chaq Chaq. The location is a drawback. It’s tucked away in a medina alley and not easy to find the first time.

Surprise from the entrance and interior, the room is huge. It felt almost empty or not in service, with no staff.

The staff, Moustapha, took care of us throughout the stay; for our departure he even got up at 3 am to escort us to our taxi. He’s amazing, without him the trip would have been a fiasco. The Riad doesn’t match the warm photos shown on the site. When you enter the Riad you feel a cold atmosphere, and you quickly realize the owner has left the staff to themselves. Luckily there’s Moustapha.

You must separate the wonderful staff from the rest when rating. Mustapha and Abdu are very friendly. Mustapha took us to dinner the first evening and picked us up, and on every subsequent night he made sure we arrived safely. He’s a good soul; it’s a pity we couldn’t chat because of language differences. He also brought us to our rental car very early on the day of departure, which was very helpful. The accommodation is architecturally beautiful and elegantly furnished. The rooms are very large and had the most comfortable beds of our trip. Overall we didn’t feel comfortable. The accommodation felt like a mausoleum, cool and lifeless. The room smelled like a sewer from the bathroom. The rooms were a bit damp, affecting our luggage. There was no air freshener to counter the unpleasant odor. The shower divider doesn’t reach the floor, so everything gets wet after showering. The bathroom wasn’t very clean. The towels smelled musty, as if laundry had sat too long in the machine without drying. There’s no place to stay longer, even in rain (no cozy lounge, rooms are very dark). The roof terrace only had cushions after a request; they were dirty and worn. Instead of freshly squeezed juice there was purchased juice, which is very unusual for Morocco. There’s no knowledge of gluten‑free diets; there was bread but it wasn’t separated from other items, which is a problem for medical restrictions. Overall many things didn’t fit, and at that price it was not worth it.
