The location was fine, but the hotel felt like my grandma’s apartment in Miami Beach in the 1970s; it needs a makeover. The lighting in the laundry area wasn’t working.

The room was spacious and right on the ocean with a view, but the bed was horrible—its springs squeaked loudly with the slightest movement, and the blanket looked soiled. The Kerrigan coffee maker was nasty, so we couldn’t use it. The kitchen barely had any equipment, so don’t expect to cook much. The unit was in South Hampton, the lamps had blown bulbs, the master bath faucet dripped, and the pleather chair in the living room was very worn. I was very disappointed with the overall accommodations for the price; I expected better.

The views, pool area, and amenities were nice, but the entire condo I stayed in was outdated: the appliances and furniture were nasty, the shower curtains had mold‑like stuff, and the chairs and couches were dirty. It definitely wasn’t worth the money we paid, and the towels were dirty too. I wanted to change rooms, but they said they were all booked. I love Kingston Plantation, but this stay was very disappointing; room 2009.

The pool staff were very friendly, even though we never used the pool, and the food from the current menu looked tasty. The room needed a bit of fixing and cleaning. The dish at the Drum restaurant (name escapes me) felt odd and probably wouldn't appeal much to kids, but the blackened shrimp pizza was fantastic and the Caribbean drink bucket was superb.
