The Moorland Hotel

“It did the job for an overnight stay.”

The property was in an amazing position with fantastic views, the staff were lovely and did everything they could to help, and the food was very good. When we arrived we thought the property was closed; there appeared to be no life around at all apart from a couple of cars and a few sheep (to be expected on Dartmoor!) in the car park. The property is in need of major refurbishment and could be an amazing hotel in time.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful; the location was remote and peaceful, surrounded by wildlife and forest, and we liked spotting sheep out and about. A small spot of blood on the toilet seat upon arrival made me clean it myself, which was a little jarring, and the breakfast portion was small for the price for me and my daughter, but otherwise it was a nice hotel.

“I never used the room and still have not got refund”

Please avoid. Absolutely awful customer service. My brother was very unwell, the hotel was very difficult to get to, we rang the hotel and informed them. They said no problem and they would cancel the booking with no charges but still haven’t done this! After one month still chasing the refund, please kindly process this.

“A nice hotel at the edge of Dartmoor”

We had a small balcony with an excellent view, the bathroom was clean, service was good, and we slept well. A fan was provided but unnecessary, and there was plenty of coffee and tea in the room. Breakfast could have been more generous—other places offer a cereal and bread sideboard ready to toast, but here only a few cooked items (which were good quality) and coffee were available, and cereal, yoghurt, or fruit required an extra charge. A bit disappointing, though otherwise the stay was very enjoyable.
