I was pleased with how they catered to my celiac needs, but I didn’t realize there were so many stairs—no lift at all—so my knees suffered; next time I’ll request a ground or first‑floor room.

When we got there it looked so lovely and welcoming; the exterior was well kept with fresh paint, clean door handles and steps. The staff were friendly. Parking was perfect – we parked right outside and it was ideal. Our room fit three adults comfortably. It smelled clean, the bathroom was spotless, we didn’t use the shower but it was immaculate. The bedding was fresh. Breakfast was delightful with fresh produce, a great selection of cereals, tea, coffee and juices – everything we needed and we all enjoyed it. The dining room was nice and clean, a bit cramped but not a problem. The staff were friendly, efficient and had a pleasant smile. The cleaner apparently missed the bedroom bin, it hadn’t been emptied from the previous guests, and the tea tray wasn’t wiped down, which we felt should have been done but could have been easily missed. The bedding was a bit old and in our opinion needs replacing; one pillowcase had a broken zipper, which I’ve never seen on a pillowcase before, but there’s always a first. Other than those small issues, our stay was great.

The couple who run the hotel are lovely, the bed is comfortable, and the breakfast is great; I’ll definitely stay again.

“A deeply disappointing and unhygienic stay that fell far below any reasonable four-star standard.”

The location is good, but the room’s cleanliness and condition were unacceptable for a four‑star listing: the sheet fell off during the night, leaving my skin in direct contact with a heavily stained mattress, which was very upsetting and unhygienic; the chair and dressing‑table area were dirty, the kettle was damaged and unclean, and an old extension lead was lying across the radiator, which also worried me; the photos clearly show the condition, and this room should not have been offered without a thorough inspection, deep clean, and mattress replacement.
