“Very different room experiences!”
The hotel added some Halloween decorations, and the staff were very helpful, even giving us duct tape and listening to our complaints; they switched us to a different room after the first night. The location was a big plus, right near the city centre and Haymarket station. However, the rooms were not clean—mouldy and full of hairs—and the first room’s shower didn’t work; it had no temperature switch, barely any water, and it was cold. We couldn’t shower, and because we were midweek, we were relieved to move to a better room, but that one also took a long time to warm up and the water pressure was still poor. The toilet in the first room kept running after use, and the noise from it was loud. Neighbours were noisy at night, and the hallway lights stayed on, flooding our room with light and ruining our sleep. The second room was much better, on the ground floor so no stairs, which made the stay more pleasant. Overall, I wouldn’t come back because of the risk of getting that first, unusable room again; it needs renovation first, and it wasn’t worth the money or discomfort. The second room was exactly what we expected and should have been ours from the start!
