Banbury Wroxton House Hotel

The location and staff are fine. During our second visit, this time with our dog, the dog‑friendly room felt like a downgrade from our first stay without the dog. The room was basic and needed a refresh, especially the carpet. Several sofas in the lounge were stained and dirty. Breakfast was subpar, offering very limited fresh fruit and no gluten‑free cereal. Paying £200 for a Sunday night that included room, breakfast, and a dog surcharge didn’t feel worth it. Overall, very disappointed and we won’t be back.

The staff were pleasant and the room was adequate. I’ve stayed here many times, but this time the food options were poorer and the meal quality suffered. The restaurant was closed on Sunday night, which was a shame because there isn’t much else nearby.

Breakfast was missing cheese, though that’s not a big deal in England. The bathroom had a bit of mold.

“Nice for a stop over”

The staff were extremely friendly, but our room had several cobwebs in the corners and a few hanging from the ceiling. Flushing the toilet was a real struggle and there was mould at the bottom of the shower. A wedding was happening nearby; it didn’t disturb us much, but it felt like we were almost intruding.

The room was large and beautifully furnished, and the location was perfect for a quiet night away as a couple. Breakfast could have been included in the overall price; even if the initial price had been higher it would have felt less expensive.
