“Outstanding location but the accommodation was discomforting and the staff need some training.”
The location is outstanding – a whimsical hotel on the island where Agatha Christie wrote And Then There Were None, connected to the mainland by a causeway. The room was beautifully decorated, but the “private bathroom” was bizarre, with a sofa and occasional table, a huge claw‑foot bath in the middle of the floor, a toilet and basin, and windows and doors opening onto the balcony – very little privacy and quite unsettling. For the demographic attracted to the hotel, the walk‑in showers should be de rigueur. No visible manager was present, and the meal service was hit and miss; at lunch our order went to another table, service was geologically slow, and most of the serving staff (though very pleasant) seemed unable to retain information – no toast at breakfast even after requesting it. I could go on. For the price charged, one would expect better.
