Breakfast was good. I left my charger in my room and couldn’t get anyone to return it.

“Needs updating”

The hotel sits close to the hospital, which was very convenient, and there’s a takeaway and a local shop right nearby. The room was a decent size and had coffee and tea making facilities, and it was fairly quiet. Breakfast was a decent size with some good options. However, the cleanliness didn’t meet expectations—there was a strange smell at the front entrance that reminded me of old cigarettes. I brought my small dog, but the owner wouldn’t let him into the room or dining area because of allergies, even though a large dog was allowed in the dining room, which felt like double standards. The staff didn’t greet us warmly at first, but the manager eventually became calm and helpful. The room was cold and we weren’t allowed to use the heating because the manager claimed it had been hot, but our disabilities made us feel cold, unlike everyone else.

The location was fine, but the door locks and the staff left something to be desired.

Breakfast was the highlight of the stay, and the chip shop up the road served the best chips I've had in ages; however, the room was run down and dirty, with stains on both sides of a pillowcase, a filthy bathroom that made me reluctant to touch anything, a cramped space that forced me to lean over the toilet to use the sink, cobwebs everywhere, and old, dated furniture; I was told there would be parking when I booked and that check‑in would be at 2, but it actually started at 5 and the parking was on the main road outside; the lady at reception was welcoming and breakfast was nice, but the Boathouse itself was a letdown.
