A true Japanese historic experience! The staff is very welcoming. Breakfast is traditional Japanese and very well presented. Located in the very heart of the historic heart of Nara, it is an excellent place to start discovering the city. Occasionally, you will see deer in the garden! The choice of wood in the bathroom has led to significant amounts of mold. Although the hotel combats this, it does give a negative impression on a room that is impeccable for everything else. Given the rates, one would expect more attention to this.
“Charmant hotel in oude sakebrouwerij”
Staying in a charming old sake brewery, our room was huge with its own garden where we even spotted a few deer; the service level was outstanding—staff spoke good English and were very helpful—and the hotel restaurant is a must‑try, we enjoyed a seven‑course dinner with a sake pairing that gave great value; we found nothing wrong and thought everything was perfect.
The meals were superb and the service was exceptional.
“Ok”
Comfortable environment. No TV, no onsen, and no staff at night.
“I enjoyed my stay and would comeback”
The room was huge and offered a view of the garden where deer would wander in to graze, making me feel like I had my own bungalow with a private yard. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to accommodate my breakfast dietary needs, though they couldn't do the same for dinner. The hotel’s location in Nara Machi is great, and other guests have praised the food. The walls are very thin, so I could hear conversations from the neighboring room, but the hotel is small and each room feels unique.
