“We will not be staying here again.”

This place was far from welcoming; there was no breakfast, no waiting room, and the front desk required pressing a button to open the door for check‑in. The clerk acted as if we were a nuisance, was very gruff, unfriendly, and did not speak English. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets, yet the bedding was old and the pillows flat. The owners seemed unwilling to invest in better accommodations. The shower handle broke when I turned on the water—corroded and unrepairable without a plumber—so they moved me to another room. The price charged was too high for what was offered, with missing basics like an ice machine or sufficient towels to dry a body. There are surely better places to stay in Junction City.

I paid what I expected for this hotel, but the RV park next to it was noisy, the gentleman at check‑in was unresponsive, only two bath towels were provided, and the TV remote had sticky residue that had to be cleaned off. It felt like they weren’t trying to be hospitable.

“All in all, I would stay here again given the limited choices of lodging in town”

The location is close to Safeway, Starbucks inside Safeway, and other shops, about one mile from downtown. The room is decent size and I appreciated having a coffee maker, microwave and mini‑fridge. I travel with earplugs, so the nearby train traffic didn’t disturb me. The AC worked well and had a real wall‑mounted thermostat. The bed was uncomfortable for me but comfortable for my partner; last year I liked the bed, so perhaps it was a different one this time. When I started putting our items in the mini‑fridge, I found the surfaces covered in sticky goo. The man working there was around, servicing rooms; I told him and he cleaned the fridge. The towels were thin, small, worn, one of each type. We stayed 3 nights and asked him for one extra of each type; he only gave us 2 more bath towels, no washcloths or hand towels—perhaps a language barrier issue. The ones he gave were a bit thicker than the regular ones in the room. The coffee maker is still a one‑cup type, not a pod type, so every day we had to get more coffee packs from the man.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We were in the last room on the upper floor, so no one walked by our window. From the outside, the building and property look sketchy. The “RV Park” has trailers parked along the back of the parking lot, right up to the motel; some clearly live there full time, junk outside. I didn’t feel safe leaving our car parked there. The lobby was locked, the walk‑up window with bars was closed. We rang the buzzer, heard some yelling inside, and someone eventually unlocked the lobby door and checked us in. If there was Wi‑Fi, we were not informed. There was absolutely no information in the room about any amenities or check‑out. No freezer in the fridge, no ice. The price shown was $80, but it changed to $140 when I entered the reservation date. Not knowing the area, I chose the room because of its proximity to our destination. It was ridiculously expensive for a basic room with two full‑size beds in a seedy setting, with a view of the parking lot/RV Park. Unfortunately, I didn’t think to take a photo.

“Worst check in experience I’ve ever had”

The room was clean, but there was no light switch for the bathroom. An English‑speaking elderly man tried to check me in even though I had already paid; he didn’t know how to do it and it took almost 30 minutes to get a key card for the room.
