The spot is right in the city centre, just minutes on foot from the main attractions and plenty of eateries and shops, so getting around was a breeze. The guesthouse itself is a renovated old building with a cozy Republic‑era Chinese décor; everything from the cute living‑room knick‑knacks to the soft bedding felt thoughtfully arranged.

The house sits up on a hill and the big balcony at the top became our go‑to spot for kicking back. From there you can spot a handful of famous landmarks and the scenery is just gorgeous. It’s quiet enough to unwind after a day of touring.

Every floor has its own balcony, giving you the chance to look out over Gulangyu’s main sights from wherever you are. The constant view adds a nice touch to the whole building.
