The room facilities were renovated, the building has a unique European style, and the housekeeping cleaned and changed towels daily; breakfast varied a bit each day. The room had a smell that wasn’t due to poor ventilation; I couldn’t tell if it was mold or something else. On the first night the staff could provide hot water, but on the second day they refused without explanation, so the standards seemed inconsistent. The other two rooms, one of which was much smaller than the one I booked, were not the smallest room I had ordered.

The room, bar, and breakfast were all excellent, and the parking guidance for a large motorcycle was handled well—thanks a lot.

The location was fantastic – a short walk to many of Otaru’s main sights. We enjoyed a complimentary glass of wine at the bar, and the dining room where breakfast was served felt luxurious. The double room was a bit small, but the value for money made up for it.

The classic atmosphere was lovely and the location near the Otaru Canal made walking around the city convenient. The free wine in the evenings offered three types of red and white to taste. The room was clean and the amenities were plenty. I’m not sure about dinner because it wasn’t included, but breakfast was a morning high tea with stylish presentation and tasty food; drinks and scones were free. Next time I’d like to stay with dinner included. Parking is limited, so when it’s full they direct you to nearby lots. The room felt a bit cramped; the high ceiling didn’t feel oppressive, but the navy curtains were heavy and made the room dark. Lower floors don’t offer a view outside the window, and the heavy curtains made it hard to open them in the morning. Breakfast gets crowded, so go early.
