Gyeongju Friend Guesthouse

The owner, a lovely lady, is the heart of the guesthouse and makes you feel instantly welcome. Cotton, the cute male dog, acts like the house chef. Walking to any spot takes just a short stroll, and the bus links to historic sites are excellent. I have nothing negative to add.

“Good location, comfortable stay.”

The location is solid, breakfast lets you make your own eggs and bread, rooms and beds are clean, and there’s a Pomeranian on site. The host is friendly. The room feels stuffy with a musky odor, and the shower is an old‑style shared one. Since there were few guests, I could use the shower room alone, which was fine for me.

The staff are genuinely nice! The guesthouse is clean, and the spot is great for walking to various parks, tombs, and other sights, plus the bus stop is super close for farther trips. Breakfast is classic—bread, eggs, jam, juice—and a homemade soup. The bed isn’t very comfortable; the mattress is thin and too soft, so if you’re a bit heavier like me, you’ll feel the hardness underneath.

1. spacious common area; 2. able to cook in the kitchen; 3. close to city center 4. reasonable price 5. felt welcomed by the host. 1. shower room has no privacy (first time seeing shared showers in a hostel, the curtains are to no avail) so usually only one person uses it and it’s not efficient; 2. small window in the room so ventilation is bad, air conditioner stinks when on(needs cleaning) 3. room door locker makes noticeable noise especially at night (awakes every time someone opens the door) 4. lacks detailed intro and English notice (since there’s a lot foreigner), so rules are not always obeyed by guests
