“Quiet and very pretty but overpriced.”
The apartment was quiet with a fantastic view, beautiful gardens, and a fire pit that we used all night. Having a kitchen with a fridge and coffee maker was great, and the staff delivered food to our room, which was nice. The pool had a bridge, was cool, and the kids enjoyed it; the night lights and smooth jazz during dinner added mood, though that music might not suit everyone. Breakfast was good with eggs, coffee, and bread, plus chicharron one morning and tamales the next for an extra fee. Fans were provided because there were no air conditioners. We used Sol y Rio for ziplining and rafting, and they picked us up from the hotel and offered a great experience. Unfortunately, the apartment was dirty on arrival; the coffee maker had old grinds with mold, indicating the kitchen hadn’t been cleaned recently. The staff responded quickly and replaced the coffee maker. They advertised a bar, but none was operational during our stay. The skylight was nice but could use a cover or curtains; the windows had a layer that blocked daytime view, but at night we had to move to a corner to avoid being seen. I was excited to try the hammocks, but they were unstable, so I didn’t use them. Getting in and out required someone to be awake to let you in; we didn’t have this problem, but others did ring repeatedly. I notified the owners via WhatsApp to let us in, and they eventually did. It’s a lovely place but needs more staff to ensure visitors are properly attended to.
