“Great hotel for short stay in Seoul!”

The staff were friendly, the beds comfortable, water was free, the room was surprisingly quiet and clean, and everything worked well—ideal for a short stay in Seoul. I’d come back. The room was hot and there was no way to cool it except by opening the window, and the only tea cups were tiny paper ones.

“The receptionist was an asshole”

When I first checked in, the room temperature was 30 °C and I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the air conditioner. I went to the reception late at night because I couldn’t sleep, but the receptionist didn’t speak English at all. I tried to explain with Google Translate, and he replied that the air‑con was broken and told me to open the window. The window faces a main street with six traffic lanes, so that would have made it impossible to sleep due to the noise. I told him I had paid for a room with air‑conditioning, so either they would change my room or refund me, and I was ready to move to another hotel. He then pointed me to the TV remote, which actually had a button to turn on the air‑con. So the unit wasn’t broken; the staff just seemed lazy to give me a solution, maybe to save money. Cleaning didn’t happen every day, and the bathroom had no curtain, so everything stayed wet. I didn’t get the receptionist’s name, but if I were the manager I would let him go.
