Helpful hotel staff solved everything despite the language barrier, but the distance to the nearest city and the more difficult transport were a drawback.

The location is far from the city center and there are minimal services around, and the pillow had mold.

The hotel had decent facilities, a quiet and beautiful view, and the staff were enthusiastic. However, it was 4‑10 km from the beach you want to swim at, and there were no restaurants, supermarkets, or eateries nearby.

It was a stopover hotel for us, just a 15‑minute walk from Cai Rong port (boat to Co To island). The décor was kitschy but charming, and the room matched the booking photo; the bathroom was all gold and funny. The staff were friendly but slow to understand. The location felt lost in a no‑man’s land between Ha Long city and the port, with only long avenues of huge empty or abandoned buildings. There was no dining option within a few kilometres – bring your own food. The staff spoke no English (so rely on Google Translate), and a horrible cold cigarette smell lingered in the corridor (luckily not in the room).
