I had a rough stay here. The staff and management kept redirecting me to an email address instead of fixing problems, and they admitted it was a roundabout way of handling complaints. They tried to add extra charges for parking, and the spa cost extra and required timed slots. They never honored the room I booked, so we moved twice and ended up above a wedding venue with a DJ blasting music on Friday and Saturday, making the bedroom floor and bed shake from the vibration. The bathroom shower screen let water flood the floor; we had to mop it up and repeatedly ask maintenance and housekeeping, but they never showed up during our stay. Fresh towels were also delayed. The spa was a waste of time, and breakfast was cold and dry—just watch the comedy show if you’re desperate for something. Everything that could go wrong did, and after the third morning I lost the will to go on. A nearly £700, three‑night break turned into utter disappointment.

I love the style and location, and the suite was great. I’ve stayed at the Swan for years, but this visit left a nasty taste. Reception staff need better training: they should greet guests warmly, not by rote, ask about their journey, handle enquiries without impatience, and avoid a condescending vibe. The Swan is a high‑class hotel, and reception is a lynchpin, not a place for unsuitable staff. Cold pseudo‑efficiency isn’t a hospitality quality. The spa price was also an issue.
