The warm host, the lovely breakfast, and the great bike garage were highlights, but the hygiene and equipment left something to be desired.

I was greeted by the sympathetic Frau Merbald and could store my bikes in her garage; the room was cozy and came with a kettle, tea and coffee. Breakfast featured a cold platter of sausage and cheese in the dining room’s fridge. The place is within walking distance of a charming village with varied dining options. There’s also a fascinating tech museum, though it will close at the end of October 2026. The picturesque town of Berching, reachable by a nice bike path, is also worth seeing.

The landlord is a very nice lady, but if you stay several days the bread selection becomes very one‑dimensional.

The place felt cozy and homey, and the breakfast was tasty, especially the fresh, crunchy buns.
