The view from the window was fantastic, breakfast tasty, the room tidy, and the staff pleasant, but getting to the accommodation is quite complicated, especially for older guests because you have to climb a steep hill, and the private bathroom requires exiting the room and walking through a corridor next to a public bar where people can see you; we sent a message about parking, they said they had one, but upon arrival they mentioned a public parking lot that already has a lottery, so finding a spot is tough, which made the stay a bit frustrating.

This lovely guest house offers nice rooms and a restaurant terrace with an amazing view overlooking Berat; the owners were very friendly and helpful, even providing a meal for us when we arrived late, so I rate it 10.0/10.

“Room with a view ~ Thousand of Windows”

I landed on the rooftop room and the bed felt like a private balcony with a brilliant view. The property sits on the crest of Mangalem District, and the host, Mr. Joel, also runs a restaurant called Terrace of 360 LION on the roof, offering the same view. Some reviews say the location is steep to climb, and it was true for my first time with a suitcase, but if you’re carrying a backpack like I was, the climb feels less daunting. Others complain it’s hard to find, but after a quick Google Maps search, the directions were straightforward. The bathroom is just outside the room and has a private key that only I could use, which I found convenient. The first night, the hot water in the shower only lasted a few minutes, which was frustrating. I told Joel about it, and he adjusted the water boiler for the next day. I’d recommend checking the water boiler with the host before staying.

The view from the terrace was beautiful, and the breakfast was simple but delicious. The beds were good. The shower water didn’t drain. There were no glass doors in the room. The steep climb up had poor signage. Coffee at breakfast was not included and had to be paid separately.

The staff were friendly and tried their best to speak English, and the breakfast was okay. The main hallway between the bathroom and bedroom forced us to walk through it each time we needed the bathroom. The restaurant’s noise, as well as other guests, could be heard in the room.
