“Clean, newly renovated room and good value for money”
We had a mixed experience, although overall we felt the hotel offered very good value for money. The room had been recently renovated and was clean, modern and comfortable. Considering the price we paid, we were very happy with the room. The hotel is approximately an hour from central Edinburgh by bus, but for us the lower price made the distance worthwhile. Firstly, the bathroom door had no lock at all. This was particularly uncomfortable for us as a family with young children, as there was no way to have any privacy while using the bathroom without the children potentially opening the door at any moment. We understand that safety is important, but a proper privacy lock with an emergency release should be possible and would make a big difference. Secondly, the green emergency/exit light above the door was extremely bright. It remained illuminated throughout the night and cast a strong green light into the bedroom. My husband found it extremely disturbing and struggled to sleep because of it. We completely understand the importance of emergency lighting and would never suggest compromising fire safety. However, emergency lighting can be either permanently illuminated (maintained) or designed to operate when the normal lighting fails (non-maintained), depending on the requirements of the premises. If there is a safe solution that provides all the necessary emergency lighting and fire-safety protection without turning the bedroom into a brightly illuminated space throughout the night, we strongly feel that this should be considered
“Comfortable hotel not far from the airport”
Good hotel for an early flight from the airport. Staff were friendly and efficient. Family room was comfortable with 2 single beds and reasonable bathroom. Good facilities. Windows wouldn't shut fully and blinds were tricky - although windows were a low security risk we were on the top floor and they seemed to be screwed open a small amount. Parking was a bit difficult when we first arrived but a space had opened up when we got back from our evening meal. Expensive but it was during the Fringe festival and so understand that will inflate the prices
“Expense for basic room, toilet in corridor and impatient housekeepers!”
The spot is convenient, but the front‑desk people could have been a touch friendlier. I had breakfast at 10am because that’s when it opens, and at 10.10am a housekeeping staff member interrupted me, complaining that I hadn’t checked out even though the official time is 10.30! A waitress at the restaurant was kind and told the staff I was still eating and would head back up later. I finished my meal, went to the room, and on the way I ran into the same housekeeper. While I was unloading my stuff, she started shouting at my door—very stressful and not what you’d expect from good hospitality. The room is tiny and pricey, and the bathroom is in the corridor, which isn’t ideal.
“Perfecto”
The rooms were spacious and the staff were attentive, but it is a bit far from Edinburgh.
The place was very clean and comfortable, and it was convenient to catch the bus back to the airport right outside the hotel. The price was high, and it was noisy until 1 am because of a pub below, so the Uber fare from the airport was 45 euros.
